Traumatic Brain Injuries

Traumatic brain injuries involve damage to brain tissue caused by external physical force or by violent movement of the head. The most common causes of traumatic brain injuries are traffic accidents, falls and gunshot wounds. The most common consequences of such damages are physical troubles (headaches, nausea, vomiting, disturbed equilibrium, impaired senses, changes in strength and body coordination), neuro-behavioural difficulties (memory problems, sleep disorders, disturbances of consciousness: disorientation, disturbance and psychological changes) and cognitive-communication difficulties (difficulties in following a stream of thoughts, slow and discontiguous conversation, difficulty in finding words, dropping, inserting or ejecting syllables from words, supplanting words with other words, difficulty remembering names, poor language organisation etc).
