MNRI® Method, or neurosensorimotor reflex integration, is a method created by Dr Svetlana Masgutova (SMEI - Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute, USA), who explored the influence of motor reflexes and sensory integration on various aspects of motor skills, communication and cognitive and emotional development. In addition to being the key to survival, especially during stress and dangerous situations, innate primary reflexes and reflex patterns are the foundations of brain development, i.e. for all cognitive and intellectual processes during maturation. During intrauterine development or later in life an infant or adult may experience trauma that prevents proper utilisation of such reflex patterns. Following a stressful incident some children may retain primary reflexes for longer than usual due to motor difficulties, sensory processing difficulties or poorly integrated reflexes. Using the MNRI® Method the integration of reflex patterns can be further stimulated to further improve motor or cognitive skills.
